  1. how long is a piece of string to be able to answer this properly we need much more information ie size of construction materials to be used how long is wall the to be built how many sections do you want whats the bulid time for the project

  2. The usual advice for constructing a compost bin is to use 4 pallets. You can often find them for free ( apart from collection) by joining your local Yahoo Freecycle group.Alternatively, keep an eye out for pallets stuck into skips, and 'recycle' them !

Construction couldn't be simpler, Just nail , s***w or even tie the pallets together  and fill with a variety of waste material, covering the top with some old carpet, to keep excess rain out. Two, side-by-side can be very effective. Fill one , then the other, by which time the first is ready to use.

The gaps in the sides help to keep the compost aerated; remember to water occasionally, since you're not relying on rainfall .

  3. If assume the compost 'bin' is in the shape of a letter 'E' (laid down of course) and the open front is maintained for access to the compost then the total area of wall will be 5sq.m. You will need about 60 bricks per sq.m i.e 300 bricks. So at say 35p per brick about £300 add a bag of cement and 4 bags of sand about £16 - total £316. If you build it yourself add your time , if you get a 'brickie' in add £200.

  4. 10 $
