  1. It varies from shop to shop and geographic location. In the Toronto area, it usually costs 250-300 bucks and includes use of equipment AND your qualifying dives. You will need to own your own mask, snorkel and fins.

  2. My OW cert cost me $150 which included all equipment, dives, air, and C-card. Prices can vairy widely especially in heavy diving areas. Prices around the Puget Sound go from 150 to 600 for your Open Water Certification. Make sure to do your shopping and check every dive shop that offers PADI certs. You can also begin your Open Water Certification online. If you check at www.padi.com there is a link to their e-learning site. Once you finish all the book work you go into your dive shop and they do your swim test, confined water, and check out dives. Most shops have discounted prices for using the online course.

  3. $250-$300 for the class.  Most classes will also push you to buy fins, mask and a snorkle and pehaps a weight belt.  You will also need to do 4 check out dives.  Many shops close to a coast offer trips for the check out dives.  Other people arrange them on their own.  The check out dives will probably cost you around $200 or so.
