How much would it be to take the diamonds from my old engagement ring and set them in a wedding band?

My first engagement ring only a cheapy (£99.99) has 3 small set diamonds and i have since been brought another engagement but would particularaly like the diamonds from my first set into my wedding band.

can this be done? what kind of prica am i looking at for this kind of work?

  1. Here's an idea: you take the whole kit and caboodle to a jewelry store and get a quote.


  2. When we flush-set (right into the band, not prong-set) the customer's diamonds, we charge $55 per stone for the setting charge.  Can't say for sure what UK jewelers would charge but it shouldn't be much more for small flush-settings. (£25-30)

  3. Yes it can be done, but how much it will cost is a bit like asking "how much is a piece of string", as it depends on what you have it set into, the type of setting you want etc.

    My best advice would be to try a local jewellers of even uni/college that does jewellery classes, and ask for a quote and explain the sort of setting you have in mind.  Metal prices follow an index linked system, so vary over time, so any quote you receive will be likely to only last a short time, as metal prices fluctuate.
