How much would it coast to add a room to my house?

I want to add a bedroom above the garage and connect the garage to the house. There is only about 6 ft between the two.

It will depend on where you live....but keep in mind, with the housing sector so depressed alot of contractors are low bidding just to have the work.  Ask around, do you know anyone who has had a home custom built in the last couple of years or someone who has had major remodeling done?  Check with the BBB in your area and get at least 3 bids (in writing) from LISENCED contractors.  Some finishing (painting, trim, etc) you may be able to do yourself which can bring the cost down somewhat.  Good Luck

seems as though you need to ask a CONTRACTOR for this.  get an estimate, then apply for your permit.  that'll cost you a couple hundred just for that.
