I want to compare prices between a regular cab and the transfer cost of my travel agency, which seems, for me, way too expensive.

Please answer only if sure. Thanks

  1. Hi there,

I'm pretty sure they'll charge you 80-100 reais to get to the old downtown area (where Av. ipiranga is located). If they charge you more, they are seriously ripping you off, but I doubt they'd do that. Cab drivers in Sao Paulo tend to be honest and ethical. Now, you do realize you're staying at a pretty seedy area, right? It's okay during the day (and downright fascinating to walk around that area), but I'd be careful to venture out of my hotel at night, unless you have the front desk call a cab for you.

Good luck and have a great trip.

  2. Airport taxis agree the fare before departure. That trip would be just under 80Rs (around $30-35 USD)

  3. Prices for cabs from the Guarulhos airport into town are fixed, but they vary by the neighborhood of your destination. The Normandie is in the Centro. Just go to the kiosk in the terminal and you'll see the prices listed. They take credit cards.

I'm guessing that you'll pay about 60 reals or so.

  4. Hi !!

My name is Vanessa and I live in São Paulo.

A taxi from Guarulhos to São Paulo costs 70 reais.( Brazilian money)

      1 Real  ( singular ) ,   2 reais ( plural )

When you arrive in São Paulo ( it is really a huge city ) you have to go to Ipiranga ( it is a neighbor near Cambuci .this neighborhood is very known from the PAULISTAS ( people who are born in São Paulo are called this way ).when you arrive in São Paulo, it will cost you more 20 or 30  reais to go to Ipiranga. You will pay more or less 100 Reais for the entire ride to Ipiranga. That is  65 dollars more or less.. In my opinion, it's better to take the bus ( very comfortable ) that travels from Guarulhos to São Paulo. It is a lot cheaper and then you take a cab to Ipiranga avenue. There is an old museum nearby about the history of Brasil and the city and the independence of Brasil.

Oh, I almost forgot ! today's  January 25, it is the Anniversary of São Paulo, so here is Holiday today.

    I hope I could help you !

Welcome to São Paulo ! and I hope you enjoy here !

    Have a nice day

  5. I took a taxi from Guarulhos Airport to my home and it cost R$ 100,00 (approximately USD 45,00).

Avenida Ipiranga is downtown and almost 2/3 the way I traveled, so it should cost no more than R$ 70,00.

There is a bus company called Pássaro Marrom that has a special service in Guarulhos International airport to different parts in São Paulo --> "airport bus service". One line goes from the airport to Praça da República - a square downtown. Av. ipiranga is one of the avenues next to "Republic Square".

See time schedule below (time of departure):

    2 - Guarulhos - República

    05:40 06:10 06:40 07:10 07:40 08:20 08:50 09:30

    10:00 10:40 11:20 12:00 12:30 13:00 13:30 14:00

    14:30 15:10 15:40 16:10 16:50 17:20 17:50 18:30

    19:00 19:30 20:10 20:40 21:20 22:00 22:40 23:10

    00:05 01:30 03:00 04:30

    It costs R$ 27,00 (ca. USD 12,00).

You must buy a ticket before going on the bus; they leave at the arrival external area and the ticket shop is mostly in the middle of the doors. Please check also the terminal you are landing.

It will take you around 30' from one point to the other, depending on traffic jams... It's possible to walk to the hotel, depending on hw much luggage you carry AND of the time you arrive - be carefull at night!

Or, you can take the bus + a taxi the last strech.

Please do not mix Av. Ipiranga - centro (downtown) with bairro do Ipiranga (a neighborhood where Brazilian Independence day occurred).
