  1. That would be about 8 standard panels,

    cost about $1600, and deliver about

    400 W. when in full sun.


  2. The two people above answered well.  A crude rule is 10 watts per square foot, so that's about 400 watts.

    I'm a little concerned by the rest of your question, though.  The solar panel cannot overload.  If an attempt is made to draw too much power, the attached devices won't get what they want, but there will be no damage to the panel.

    You also mention using "normal electricity."  If you mean the stuff that comes from the wall outlet, hooking up a solar panel to work in tandem with your hosue electricity is a standard thing to do, but it requires extra equipment.  It's not as simple as just wiring the panel in.

  3. Depends on what quality of material you use, but between 400w and 450w sounds right.  You can make solar panels yourself with this instruction manual I found.
