depends on the car...you could always look online and buy it there then take it to the mechanic.

I have the PERFECT answer, call the dealer for the price of the sensor(hint, hint, thats more than likely were the repair shop will get the price-not the part) O2 sensors are fairley easy to repair,Take some time to buy the part yourself and have someone from a parts store help to to install the new piece. Trust me, you will save yourself lots of cash using a parts store, they know (and I) what we are doing. Save yourself the labor price of a repair shop, use your local parts dealer-most of the time we are bored anyway,and if your in San Diego I will do it for you-free!!!
