  1. It depends on which college you go to.  Most colleges have a department of education.  There are also a lot of scholarships and grant programs to help people get certified in special ed.  Check with the college and look at fastweb.com for funding.

  2. I received my Masters Degree in Education in 2002.  Your question did not indicate wether you would be studying for an undergraduate or graduate degree and or wether you would be taking courses for your own personal enrichment or towards teaching certification.

In regards to cost, community colleges that offer special education course would be the cheapest followed by public 4-year institutions  that offer both undergraduate and graduate education, and finally private colleges and universities which would be the most expensive alternative.

You mention La Salle University, which is I believe is located in Philadelphia, PA.  La Salle is a private Catholic institution of higher learning.  The cost of the courses at La Salle would depend on wether they were courses being audited, taken for undergraduate or graduate credit, or would be applied towards a teaching certification.

I would recommend that you consult the La Salle University website to compare and contrast the cost of courses in the categories cited above in order to determine the cost of courses in special education.

It is always encouraging to find that there are people like you interested in learning more about the special education field.
