I've always fantasised of a house foyer that is centerpieced by a replica of Titanic's Grand staircase, the dome and all

In today's $ how much would that set you back and how would you go about doing it...

(There are two known replica of the Staircase that exist today... one is at the Titanic Museum in Branson Missouri, and the another is at a Titanic Museum in Orlando Florida....

  1. Wow, that is an awesome idea. I heard about the expense of the movie making it to the exact dimensions etc so I can imagine it would cost you a fair whack. But maybe if you spent alot of time on it and do most of the work yourself using cheap materials, you can achieve it eventually. You know I really like your idea now, haha

  2. The cost of building that would vary on how much detail you put into the woodwork and what materials you decided to use for the task.

If you check out some of the bonus features of the special 3 disc Titanic collection dvd it will tell you the behind-the -scenes of how they built the grand staircase for the movie. It wasn't just a set, it was a full scale replica of the real thing. When they were finished, the total cost of the set was very expensive but if you really want to persue your idea you could always substitute wood and glass types to bring the cost down.
