I am just wondering if anyone knows of a site that can estimate gas prices in different states, and that can give me an idea of how much it will cost to drive from my home to Michigan with the information about my vehicle that I provide.

I am starting from Copperas Cove, TX and driving to Shelby, MI. I will be driving a vehicle that has an 18.5 gallon tank, and gets 19 miles to the gallon highway. It also uses the regular grade gasoline.

  1. Check this site out:

  2. You will travel around 1320 miles, and will spend between 220 to 280 dlls in gas.

  3. That would be a 1,310 mi drive, one way.  At 19MPG, you would burn through 69 gallons of fuel.  The current average price per gallon of gas in the US is $2.98 per gallon.  Therefore you should plan on spending around $205 in gasoline for your trip and you will have to fill your tank 4 times.

You could use http://www.gasbuddy.com to plan out your fuel stops.  That would probably save you a few bucks.

  4. Too much. Stay in Texas. It's too cold in Michigan this time of year anyway.

  5. According to AAA, the average total cost of driving (gas, car ownership, insurance, maintenance, etc.) is 49 cents a mile.
