  1. First of all you can't just use regular foam......You have to use "Modified Combustable Foam Squares" the reason is everytime that you would jump into the pit your bike is going to spill fuel,(now you have fuel soaked foam waiting for a spark) Trust me your bike will catch the foam on fire and it's not a slow burn, it spreads very quick. It happen to me with my first pit. "Modified Combustable Foam Squares" do not ignite as easy(it really takes alot to catch them on fire). But, there is a price to pay. At a $1.27 each 6"x 6" squares @ 225pcs. per bundle x 20 bundles = 4500pcs. @ $1.27each = $5,715.00 thats not including shipping(it's delivered to you by a 18 wheeler truck).

Now, there is some cheaper things you can do. Lay down old tires in the bottom of the pit(make them fit tight and cut holes in them and tie them together with rope) then after that go around and find some old mattresses(does not matter what size, but more is better) you want to lay down two layers of mattresses on top of the tires. the reason for this is, first this going to save you some money on foam and this going to give you that "spongy" foundation for your pit. Now before you start throwing foam in, you have to get a tarp and cover the top layer of the mattresses(make sure it covers the entire pit floor aera) secure it to the walls of the pit with a 2"x 4' border snug against the mattresses, Now you can use regular foam if you cant afford the "Modified Combustable Foam". But, before you launch into the pit you have to turn your fuel off at the fuel petcock.(I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH) "think about when your in that pit and it's on fire and your fighting to get out" Trust me it's scary. Please take my advice on these safety tips.

You ready to start putting in your foam, If you want to buy all that scrap foam thats fine.but, you can do this. Find old furniture(couches, loveseats, recliners) and scrap them tear off the fabric and you have foam and use the wood from the furniture for a big campfire.

You need one more thing, You need another huge tarp to cover your foam pit from the weather(foam turns into a powder when the weather gets a hold of it) It gets in your eyes, ears, nose and mouth and it sucks, always cover your pit when your not using it and when it rains just so you dont get a lake in your pit, when you have it covered take a long peice of wood or pole that is taller than your pit and put it under the tarp when its raining this will help the rain to just drain off to the outside of the pit instead the inside......And dont forget to fluff up your foam everyday this keeps it from getting packed in.

    P.S.

My foam pit is 50ft wide x 75ft long x 12ft deep and has 2 cranes
