  1. Paid £3200 to local plumber four years ago. Boiler and eight radiators. Took three days with testing and balancing. No problems since.

  2. about 2.500

  3. id say ud be looking around £3500 - £4000. but id get at least 3 or 4 quotes before choosing one

  4. Cost me just about £3000, I found a very good Central Heating Engineer. In and out in a day and a half. Very clean, reliable and gave good advice.

I did purchase a Bosch 28si so that probably put up the price, well worth it.

    North West UK

  5. These people must live in cuckoo land or use cowboys..

Two years ago, British Gas quoted 6700 for 5 rads + towel warmer and a generic cheapo combi boiler. And one year warranty.

Thames water quoted 5700 for 5 rads (I was to supply towel warmer), and the best combi boiler on the market (made by Bosch). Plus 5 years free servicing and warranty.

Naturally I went with Thames Water. Took 3 days to do the job.

You wont get much change from 5,000 pounds from a cheapo company (risky). Thames Water or British Gas: look around the 6000-8000 mark.

Also...8 rads means powerful combi...so more expensive. 2500? my bum. lol

    UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!:

So we've gone from 2500 (hahahaha) to 3500-4000 and slowly creaping up to 5000 (which is much more realistic)...we're getting there. lol. Though ignore the cuckoos on here and cowboy plumbers. Do your maths FFS. Good boiler for 8 rad system will set you back at least 1,000 pounds, right? 8 good rads will set you back another about 1,000 too (figure about 100 each cos some of the smaller will be less but the double ones will be more so it evens out). Then you have the environmental charge for disposing your old stuff (unless you get the cowboys on here who flytip). So you're up to about 2,300. Then depending if it's a straight swap with the boiler, then fine...otherwise you have electrician charges to do the electrics on it if it's being relocated/new install (that's another 200). Then you got materials. Then you have at least two people working for about 3-4 days (unless you hire 1-man-wonder cowboy who'll do it in a day and leave your house in a mess/cut corners. So central heating installers for 3-4 days work times 2 (people). You'd imagine they'd want to earn AT LEAST 800-1000 (normal earnings) each of them. So already you're looking at 4500-5000 there. Now that's if you want to risk it and go with a company you know...I chose the safe route and went with a big supplier..Thames Water, not British Gas like the pillock below said. Yeah they'll probably take about 1,000 more for the privilige, but seeing I got 5 years warranty and 5 years free service...I reckon I saved a lot more than a thousand...5 years service is worth at least 1,000 in my books, not including the warranty...plus it's Npower doing it...not a crappy company.  You're also guaranteed a good boiler cos you can choose the one you want...and at the end of it, you have peace of mind. So don't count the big guys out and get quotes from Thames Water too...ignore the cowboy plumbers on here. Use a company not some person who offers to do the job on Yahoo Answers...bahahahaha

  6. Why have so many people given Melon the thumbs down?

He is closer with his guesstimate of £5k, than the £2.5k.

There are so many variables, it's difficult to give a realistic answer, with only "How much would it cost" to go on.:) :) :)

Good quality materials come at a premium.

Good quality installer's/engineer's come at a higher premium.

  7. £4000 to £5000!

    Depends where you are.

If you already know a plumber who you trust - use him.

My advise is fit the best boiler you can afford.

Others have said Worcester Bosch and they ARE good. But if you want the best, fit a Vaillant. Far superior to anything else on the market. You'll pay a little more, but it won't let you down. Beware, there are a lot of rubbish boilers out there and a lot of manufacturers who don't give a d**n.

  8. melon more like lemon

  9. i would charge about£3300

  10. melon is in cuckoo land if he uses BGas - find a local plumber/central heating contractor. ask around and see who other prople use and what their experience has been. the final price/quote will depen on the complexity of the house layout but the general comments given in other answers are in the right field i.e. £2.5k to £3.5k

  11. All the above answers create confusion, my son in Yorkshire paid £2700 for a semi, with condensing boiler 9 rads. My other son in north London, a semi, cond. boiler 8 rads £5,600. Double the cost in London, expected, don't live down south move away.

  12. It depends a lot on the layout of your house and where the boiler needs to be located.A vertical flue system can add £400 if the boiler is fitted away from an outside wall.Boilers  can cost anything from £500 to £1500 depending on the manufacturer and hot water capacity.

Get some quotes from local traders and ask them to specify on what type of appliance will suit your needs.
