How much would it cost to fix my camera?

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XTi. When I put in the battery, the camera turns on, but nothing happens.. When you try to turn it off the green light on top stays on, but no pictures show or anything..

Can this be fixed myself or should I bring it somewhere to be fixed? Or should I just buy a new camera?

  1. I think your best bet is to buy a new camera. Your rebel is out of

warranty and may cost 50.00 to 100.00 to repair and it may take

2 to 3 weeks to get it back. if you get it back at all.

It may hurt a bit, but you can get a pretty good digital for 140-200

  2. Before you get too far into this, call the Canon help line.

    800.OK-CANON

Your problem is not typical of your fine camera.  It may be a simple fix that Canon can help you resolve.  If it isn't they can help you find the closest authorize repair shop

My guess that buying a $200 P&S camera is not your first choice.  The Canon 40D purchase price just dropped with the introduction of the 50D, so if you do decide to replace your XTi, you may want to consider it as an alternative.

  3. i sent a camera off to be fixed.  it would have been cheaper to have bought a new body.
