  1. Surrey is a very large county with about a hundred stations in it (especially if you count the London Stations which are within the old surrey borders) and manchester has a number of stations as well, could you be a little more specific?

Also when will you be travelling, what day, time of day, and returning, which route do you wish to take? are you travelling through London and using the underground? All these factors affect the price of the journey.

    Good Luck

  2. Hi i travel regular from kent to manchester i know you asked about surrey but where im from in kent i pay £79.20 on the day for a 30 day open return & the ticket covers me to go on the underground when i get to london ! obviously if you pre book the ticket you will get it cheaper But 1 thing i will warn you about if your thinking of travelling up to manchester try not to travel on a saturday or sunday due to all the rail works that are going on at the mo & there due to carry on this for the next few weeks aswell if your going to be travelling via london you need to get to euston & that train takes you straight to manchester picadilly its the most direct route & the quickest .... hope this info helps

  3. Not knowing the specifics of your journey it is hard to give an accurate answer.  Go to http://www.nationalrail.co.uk

From there you can check train times and ticket prices.

Advance tickets are usually cheaper unless you are making the journey to and from on the same day.

  4. A Saver Return from Guildford to Manchester costs £69.20. Note that there are two types of Saver tickets for this journey, one routed via London and one routed via Reading and Birmingham, so make sure you get the correct version for the route you want to use.

If you want a direct train from Guildford to Manchester and back (which there are very few of), you need a ticket that is valid via Reading and Birmingham.

There are time restrictions on Saver tickets on weekdays. The earliest train you could get from Guildford would be at 0803 (if travelling via London) and the earliest you could get from Manchester would be at 0946 (also via London).

If you need to travel earlier on a weekday, you need to buy a fully flexible Standard Open Return ticket, which costs £125.00 for the Birmingham route and an astonishing £261.00 for the London route.

The outward half of a Saver Return ticket is valid only on the date printed on the ticket; the return half is valid for one month after this date (so you can return at any time within a month). Both halves of a Standard Open Return ticket are valid for one month.

If you know the exact dates you want to travel on, and don't mind booking in advance and being restricted to specific trains, you could buy Advance tickets. These are only available as singles (so you need to buy two, one for each half of the journey) and start from £21.50, though you need to book many weeks in advance to get one at this price.
