For some reason I want to have fishes.

How much would it cost for the supplies? water pumps, tank, food, other stuff..

what would I need?

What would be a decent sized tank?

What would be a good estimate amount of all the stuff together?

I wouldn't want any large fish, maybe medium and small ones.

  1. well it all depends on what fish you get. like certain fish require certain needs. but if you were getting a fish requiring that stuff you have listed, it would probably all together cost about 40 dollars. depending on what you get.

  2. firstly the plural of fish is fish not fishes

    secondly the cost

i would get a all in one 10+ gallon tank

maby try a 30 gallon with danios tetras guppies and corydoras

    do lots of research

a full setup with everything you need would cost anything from $100+

it is a great hobby and it i always nice to se more people becoming interested

  3. VERY VERY VERY expensive!!!!!!   if you dont want to wste money following good advice and giving proper care then i would sggust not getting fish as you will lose LOTS of money...

(i.e both goldfish and bettas do not live is bowls... goldfish needs 20 gallons and a filter, Betta needs three gallons or more, a heater and a filter.    know about cycling BEFORE you buy a fish, and also know about your fish BEFORE you get one.   know it before hand because otherwise, people who sell fish just want your money and will take advantage of you.)

anyways... I would recommend a ten gallon to start with. cycle the tank then you can get some fish after a couple of weeks. I recommend a school of tetras or guppies to start with.  a small school of oto cats are a good addition to keep algae down because they are the only algae eater that wont outgrow your tank.  what might work VERY well would be a betta and three or four dwarf frogs, and an apple snail. or you could add shrimp instead of frogs.    the tank with the filter and heater would cast about 70-80$ and the fish would all cost less than five dollars each.

  4. Look for around a 20gal tank to start with.

If you are buying new, look for a complete kit with tank, filter, heater and light. Might cost you $100-150 depending on where in the world you live.

If you are on a budget look for a 2nd hand tank and gear. That way, maybe $50, but you may have to fix or replace some bits.

If you keep your ear to the ground you may be able to pick up gear cheap or even free. Even a grotty old tank can be scrubbed out and set up like new with a new filter and heater.

  5. a 29 gallon tank with the filter, air tubes, air pump, gravel, hood and light and stand  probably around 150 or so.

As far as size of fish-goldfish can outgrow their tank-have 4 which are about 4 inches long. I wouldn't put smaller fish in with goldfish as they tend to be aggressive to smaller fish. However the goldfish don't seem to mess with the pleco very long. And the goldfish do produce alot of ammonia and are very messy(for goldfish get a filter that is for at least double the size of the tank)

  6. I set up my tank yesterday, these were the prices

    22 gallon tank - £25

Fluval filter (also acts as air pump) - £15

Food (TetraMin) - Free with tank - RRP £1-3

Decholtinator - Free with tank - RRP £5

Bacteria - Free with filter - Not sure about RRP

    Gravel - £3.69/2kg

    Fish - Cheapest: Goldfish/danios £1.50

Caves, hiding places, plants and other decorations and toys vary too much.

Decent sized tank anywhere from  20-30 gallons

You may need a heater, depending on the fish you have.
