My friend wants me to set up a ebay account 4 her & sell her stuff on ebay 4 her.She wants me to come up with the products description & find out the year of the product & the maker.Plus she wants me to do the research on what similar items go for on ebay and basically run her ebay account 4 her. I have taken a few online training courses on selling on ebay so i know alot more about it than she does. She knows nothing about computers. So she couldnt do it without me.The only thing she has done is take pictures of her items.I would be the one resizing the pics & uploading them. She wants me to start out with about 20 items to sell on ebay and thats just a small portion of what she has to sell and she should make about $200 off of those. She does have good items though.

But i dont want to do all this work for free. Its too time consuming. So if someone was to hire someone to do all this for them about how much would it cost?

Or basically how much should i charge her if i do all this?

  1. You can charge them how you see fit....

Ebay selling is really really simple.....but you dont have to tell them that...make a profit off of your work

    I'd charge her $75

  2. You can do it yourself but if you need someone else you should charge monthly or yearly - say £/$ 20 monthly and 80 yearly- yes I would!

The problem is people tend to stick to eBay to earn money or to sell and without knowing it they're spending too much (in some cases) because they dont branch out to sell!

Sometimes people sell on there and pay for the fees etc but their item doesnt even get sold!  You can even make twice as much if you branch out - using free and fee services both.

You can also earn, promoting on sites like:

    http://www.sellit-right.com

    http://www.craigslist.org

    http://www.amazon.com

  3. Typically, the companies who do this charge some kind of percentage. Even up to 20% or 30% - if this is a friend, you may want to charge less. And you have to think about: what if an item does NOT sell? Do you still get paid, and if so, how much? You've already realised your time is worth something - it's up to you to decide just how much.

Explain to your friend that this takes a LOT of time and energy, plus you have to monitor the account and make sure to respond if anyone asks questions, etc. And who's doing the packing and shipping? That costs time and money, too.

It sounds like you really don't want to do this - you _could_ help her by showing her how, once or twice, and then leaving her to do it. It's easy for her right now to say "Oh, you do it", but once she realises how much work it really is, she may come back and offer to pay you for doing it.

Think about it - which do you value more, your time or your friendship? It may be better to simply say you don't have the time - that this could wind up being a full-time job for you!

    Good luck,

    FF

  4. I would charge at least a 25% commision. There is a lot of work and time involved.
