  1. You can't really answer that with so little information but I can give you a list of what you need.

    [Food and Toys]

There are different prices for different Shiba Inu and they can vary from being really expensive to really cheap. Of course dog food is a must, and the prices of that vary as well. There are also option choices like dog toys and bones, but a leash is not optional. Dogs AND cats consume over 11 billion worth of food each year, but one large bag of dog food would probably last around one or two months depending on how much your dog eats. Doggie treats are optional as well, but the dogs suggest that you add that :]

    [Medical Care]

Medical cares and check ups are needed to insure your dog's health. They can get quite expensive if your dog comes up with some sort of disease, it all depends on how well you take care of your dog. Needle shots need to be taken during a certain age.

    [Grooming]

I don't know much about the shiba inu breed but if it has long fur you might need grooming tools like brushes, etc. But i'm 100% sure that every dog needs baths, so you have to add shampoo and conditioner is optional. Also buy a towel for you dog, you don't want a wet dog walking around. He/she could also get a cold from that.

    [*Proper Enviroment]

You might have to adjust your home so the dog/puppy can be safe. That might also cost money. That means putting up wires, making sure there are no harmful things on the ground for it to eat. Make sure that chocolate and other foods are never in it's reach, they can cause minor or even fatal sicknesses. Theres also the sacrifice of your chairs and furnitures if you pet needs to chew something, bones might cure that but not for all dogs.

    [Extra Stuff]

There are very useful tools out there like small doggie scooper bags and portable water bottles for dogs. If your planning to buy those add that to you list. Once you get a dog i'm sure you'll want to pamper it. The more you pamper the more your bill goes up.

    [Time]

There is also the cost of your own time, taking it out for walks three or two times a day, daily exercise, and of course loving and caring for the dog because you don't want the dog to get lonely.

I'm sure I missed some stuff, but this is all I can currently think of. Yearly it might vary to a few thousand to a few hundred. Depends on how you can manage your budget.

  2. Well, since it is medium sized dog,

the first 'puppy year' will be around $1,000 (shots, cage, bed, treats, dog-proofing your home, vets)

But then a medium sized adult dog costs around $500 - $800 dollars, depends whether it has long hair, or it gets sick easily, etc..
