How much would it cost to paint vs hire a professional??

My house is about 4500 sf about how much do you think it would cost to paint the whole entire house,also include mudwork that needs to be down??

very much depends on where you live. call around , get estimates, ask friends, think about time also besides money.

Well obviously you would save money if you did it yourself, labor rates are ridiculous!!!  You would save money on the paint also because I'm sure pros mark that stuff up a lot too!!  But you have to consider it will take you a long time and even though you aren't paying someone to do it and are saving money you could be spending that time doing something else...

In good times, professional painters use $800 per room for their estimates.  A two story entrance would count as 2 rooms.  This is for 2 coats and all prep work.  That said, we are not in good times and painters, especially those who concentrate on new construction, are hurting so you could probably get it for half.  Its getting to be summer time and the college students are soon available.  I'd still go with the professionals but tell them that you're going to get a quote from a college student outfit so you'd like his best price.
