How much would it cost to put a back door in the garage?

the house that we are getting is pretty much plywood and siding...how much would it cost (minus the cost of the door) to put in a door to get to the back yard? how would you do it alone (no carpenter)??THANKS

It really wouldn't cost much, but you need to know a little bit about framing. Basically you need a saw to cut the hole for the door and the proper size header and framing for your particular garage. Try a few estimates. It probably isn't as bad as you think.

Most handy men will do it for about $60 to $100.  I would not recommend that you do it yourself.  Too many little details to go wrong.  Just cutting the hole wrong will be a expensive mistake.  You have to cut the siding perfectly, and trim it out.  

Parts will be about $100 to $200. (Depending on quality and your location.)
