How much would it cost to reface a house with brick?

I know that's a difficult question but just a ballpark order of magnitude. I live in Northern Virginia in a very standard colonial home (5 windows wide, pretty flat exterior surface no difficult architectural details). Is it something like 25K or up to 100K?

  1. Brick and block should run about $18.50 a square foot brick without block should run $10.00 a square foot  (as long as you pick a color that's in stock)

you should measure the square feet including the window and door opening

  2. I assume you will need a "brick ledge" installed around your home. This requires digging out the soil about 12" away from the house and 18" below grade. Pouring the footings , laying the bricks, etc.

Figure about $25 per running foot for the footings or brick ledge, and about  $1500 per thousand to furnish and lay the brick. You may need work done on your overhangs.

Take your square footage of the house walls multiply that times 7= bricks per square foot, now divide by 1,000 . That tells you how many thousand bricks you need.
