Do you know how much would it cost to replace the ribbon cable which connects the lcd display to main board circuit

on my Sony DCR-HC19E camcorder? (lcd screen is not working becouse the ribbon cable is broken)

  1. More than it's worth.

    The price to investigate the fault is usually £70ish but knocked off the final repair invoice.

    Parts are very expensive (because no-one wants them)

    The link would allow you to buy a replacement (new) foro just 90 quid!


  2. If you did not open the cameras LCD, then it may be the CCD imaging device in the lens.

    IF:

    1) the camera can play back videos, and you can see it

    2) you get a black or blue screen on the LCD in record

    Then your CCD is faulty and needs to go back to Sony, possibly for a recall of bad CCD chips, its a common thing for the HC line

    If you opened the camera and tore the ribbon cable, then you need to find a donor camera maybe on ebay to fix it.
