Question:

How much would it cost to replace my front rotors and brake pads?

I have a 1992 Camry

I remember someone telling me that the parts could come out to a little over $100. Is replacing the rotors and pads hard to do? If the shop is charging me an insane amount (which is why I'm getting an estimate from you all), then I will consider doing it myself.

Thanks!

  1. Contact Pep Boys in your area and price out the pads and rotors. You will probably find the pads to be between $20.00 and $40.00 and the rotors to be about $20.00 each. Then you need to replace them. A Haynes manual costs about $20.00 and it will take you through the steps. These manuals are also availabe at Pep Boys. Good Luck

  2. My 2004 Toyota Camry cost me 450.00 for rotors and breaks 3 months ago.  I hope its not like the price of gas and keeps rising every day or it could be quite a bit by now..lol

  3. One place you can use to do price checking on car repairs is on Driverside.com – you can drill down to specific cars cause I think the price will change based on the car - like a 92 camry. They are still in beta but they have a ton of data on what car parts and repairs should cost. I used them for my last repair.

  4. if you are in the chicago area, i would do it myself for the price of parts and a six pack of my choice. let me know
