Yes, I heard it has a chip in it. I'm just hoping they aren't trying to scam. Just the Key replaced not the little electronic "unlock/lock, trunk, panic" thing.

  1. call your local dodge dealership and ask them how much a replacement key will be.  You should be able to get a price over the phone... they may ask for your VIN to detect if there is indeed a chip in there.

  2.   Who told you it had a chip in it. That's usually only on the higher end models. One way to tell is if the plastic head of the key was a grey or tan then It's a transponder if it's black then its not. It's optional on a lot of Chrysler's. If it not and your paperwork's in order it would probably be cheaper to go through the dealer probably run 20-30.

If it is a transponder/chip you would be better to go through a locksmith due to the fact that they will come to you. Where if you went through the dealer you would have the cost of programming the key plus you would have to have it towed there as well. I usually charge around 150 kinda depends on how far I'm going. I heard of locksmiths charging up to 250.00 for that so call around kinda depends on your market as well good luck.

  3. It wouldn't be that expensive. since this is just the key. should be less than 20$. prob about 8$.
