  1. It cost me $12,994 to study abroad in Mexico for a semester, but a full year is $22,289. Spain is probably more though.

EDIT: This was for college though. I don't know about high school...

  2. I did a study abroad program when I was a Junior in high school too, and it was the absolute best thing I ever did.  I went to Italy, but the program I was with also coordinated sessions in Spain and France.  The cost for the entirety of my 6-week summer program (including airfare, 6 college credits, 2 meals a day, housing, and weekend trips), was $3000.  I also brought an extra $1200 for expenditures during the course of the trip (souvenirs, meals when I didn't want to eat in the dining hall, entertainment, etc.), and this lasted me very comfortably.  This was 7 years ago, but I assume prices can't have changed all that significantly.  Ask through your school-my high school Italian teacher was the one who notified me of my program.  (And for the record, my program was through Ramapo College of New Jersey, but there was no requirement to be a student there.  Worth looking into!)

I wish I could go back and do it all over again for a second time!

  3. Hey!

So that's really exciting that you want to study abroad! I would definitely recommend that you study abroad when you are in college just because the school will hook you up with trustworthy study abroad organizations and sometimes the school does their own study abroad which could save you tons a money. Not only that but you go with a group of people and you get to experience awesome things through your school then you would by yourself.  If your high school has study abroad available then you should be able to get more information on how it works when your in high school. Studying abroad during college is just more convenient because your on your own and you get more scholarship and financial aid for it. For example i attend azusa pacific univeristy they have a study abroad program called south africa its about 4 months i stay with a family half the time and the other is in college in south africa, tuition was exactly the same and my grants and scholarships transfer over! so everything was about 13,000 dollars! so that inculdes room and board and so many other things

    hopes this helps!!

  4. depends where you go.  there is less financial aid available for europe, because everyone goes there.  somewhere like asia or africa, though, you'll get a couple of grand to help out.
