  1. mine costs about $15 a month including bedding, food vitamin drops, and timothy hay

  2. depends on what else you buy for the guinea pig.

if you stick to the bare needs for it, then i would say around 10-20 bucks a month.

but you must also remember at first guinea pigs are expensive if you dont have a sturdy cage, any water dispensers, food dishes. also guinea pigs alone are around 40 dollars i think around me.

  3. You don't need 2 pigs if you are willing to spend LOTS of time with your piggy. They like lots of attnetion, and if you can then get 2. But this is not always possible. So if you have one pig, then just make sure they are in a nice location where all the family pass often and can speak to him, where he can see the tv maybe and be part of the goings on of the house. And your piggy can come out and have floor time. I have one pig, and I have discussed the idea of another piggy, but right now me and my one piggy are surviving fine!

Anyway, I'm aware that wasn't the question, but I just wanted to clear that up, that it is possible for a piggy to live with only humans.

To answer the question... I spend about £25-£30 (Great British Pounds) a month on my piggy. This includes everything. Bedding, food, vitamins, veg etc. That's about $50 US Dollars. If you are in the US then maybe the items would be cheaper than here, so maybe $40. It's not cheap, they need lots of care and lots of fresh leafy greens, and clean beds. Because they are very clean animals, you need to do your bit and keep their beds clean too. But it is more than worth it!!!!

  4. First of all, you NEED two guinea pigs. The cost isn't much larger, but rather about 25% larger than what you'll be paying for one. They're herd animals and will be unhappy and boring if housed alone.

Guinea pigs don't need vitamin drops! They sweeten the water making guinea pigs more likely to dehydrate and the vitamin C just dissolves in water, making it completely and utterly useless.

I have five guinea pigs. For two I'd split costs roughly in half. We pay about $30 a week for vegetables and also about $20 on hay. Two loads of laundry for their bedding & their pellets are only a good couple of dollars a month. Veggies & hay are NOT cheap.

That means vegetables would probably cost you about $60 for a month. Hay would be about $40. They're costly if the hay is good quality and so are the vegetables. About $100 a month for a pair seems right.

Remember to SAVE money in whatever ways possible! Using fleece & towels that are cleaned weekly drastically lowers monthly costs. Building a properly sized cage yourself for only about $40 is also a huge money-saver. Wasting over $100 on a pet store cage that's not even big enough is a common mistake. 5. Remember that prices may vary depending on where you are and where you go.

  6. one guinea pig will cost $10-20 a month. You need hay, bedding, food and the drops which you might not have to buy everymonth depending on what size bag you get and how much it eats. Really, guinea pigs need a companion to be happy. Good luck
