  1. NOTHING, they would have to pay me, A LOT, to bother watching any such idiocies.

  2. I wouldn't pay a cent to hear blow hard's big mouth.  But I would help pay his way to anywhere else but here.

  3. Bob wrote:  "EVERY major scientific organization says global warming is mostly caused by us."

Okay.... define "mostly".  Now then...... where is the scientific Proof backing up the "mostly" claim???

Lastly, did "EVERY" major scientific organization mail ballots to all of their members or did a handful of board members or staff 'vote' for them???

  4. It won't happen.  Every time a skeptic issues a challenge to a doom sayer, the doom sayers always refuse.

"Dr. James Hansen, NASA climatologist and major figure in the debate on global climate change, recently refused a paid invitation to speak and debate at the College about his positions on global warming. Braum Katz (’09)—secretary for the College’s Department of Student Rights, director of the newly-created William and Mary Society for Academic Freedom and Diversity and Informer writer—invited Mr. Hansen via e-mail.

  5. A business and political consultant vs. a politician on a complex scientific issue?

I wouldn't watch that if they paid me.

  6. I would pay more to see one between Dr. Rice and Obama.

  7. Nothing.  Neither are qualified and it would be all hogwash.

This debate would be as useless Obama and McCain debating quantum string theory.

  8. I'd much rather see Monckton "debate" the subject with Sir John Theodore Houghton. Of course, a politician/journalist vs. a real climate scientist wouldn't be a fair debate.

  9. Nothing.  Neither is a qualified scientist.

Hansen against Spencer might actually be interesting.  But I doubt any layperson would understand it adequately.

And, to accurately have a debate on global warming among scientists that reflects reality, it would have to be one "skeptical" scientist against 1000 mainstream scientists.

EVERY major scientific organization says global warming is mostly caused by us.

EDIT - Glad to see you liked my idea.  Can I get Best Answer for it?

"did "EVERY" major scientific organization mail ballots to all of their members or did a handful of board members or staff 'vote' for them???"

The organizations can't take positions opposed by a significant number of their members.  The American Institute of Petroleum Geologists found that out when their official position was that (mostly) man made global warming was unproven.  Members were resigning in large numbers rather than suffer the stigma of belonging to an organization expressing such an ignorant view.  The organization could not recruit new members from recent graduates for the same reason.

  10. It would be interesting to see, of course.  But won't happen.

In Al's words "There can be no debate".  Why not?  What's he hiding?

  11. "And, to accurately have a debate on global warming among scientists that reflects reality, it would have to be one "skeptical" scientist against 1000 mainstream scientists."

That wouldn't make any sense. Numbers wouldn't make your argument any better. All it takes is one scientist to defend the position.

  12. Why would we pay to see a debate on a scientific subject by two non-scientists? We might as well pay to watch them play tennis, they're not pros at that either.

EDIT: By the way, despite what Eric C and others say, these sorts of debates have already happened and can even be seen on You Tube.  Here's a link to one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reV7bVhhc...

There have also been panel discussions (not exactly debates, but close) at scientific meetings, by real scientists on both sides.

The place where the debate really needs to take place is in the peer-reviewed literature, but the "skeptics" are mostly silent in that forum.

  13. NO !!! U can tell that even Gore does not believe...
