How much would solar panels cost for our school?

My friends and I are trying to fundraise enough for solar panels next year. How much would it cost?

First, take number of KWH shown on your bill. Divide that by 30. That gives you your average daily usage. So if you use 700 KWH, that is 23.3 KWH per day.

Take that number. Divide it by the number of full sun hours you get per day on a yearly average. Multiply it by 1.15. That will give you a pretty close estimate of how many watts of solar panel you need. So if you get 5 hours per day, divide 23.3 by 5 - that gives you 4.66 KW, or 4,666 watts. Multiply that by 1.15, which gives you 5,360 watts of solar panel needed.

Average installed cost of solar electric if you do it yourself is around $7 per watt, or $9 if you have it installed by a licensed contractor. That includes the cost of the panels, inverters, wire, mounts, and other hardware. It does NOT include anything else you might need to pay for, like inspections or extra watt meters by the electric company. So that system will cost you around $37,500. A battery based system will cost around 20-30% more

To power the school to its needs, a lot! We sell ones where I work that can run a car battery and those things are pricey! I can't imagine how much it would cost to buy enough or ones powerful enough to power a school! Good luck though! You have the best intentions!

about 20,000 Dollars for one panel and your school would need about 30 of them so the cost is like $600,000 Dollars plus installation would make it 1 million dollars

depends on the size of the school.  for a smaller building, maybe $8,000 but for a larger, up to $80,000.  it honestly depends on the amount of power needed to run the building and the location of the building due to weather.  its costly but the savings could make a difference in the long run.

You couldn't raise enough money to make the school safe from toxic substances such as batteries or from related items such increased costs for earthquake proofing.
