How much would someone need to make (salary) to support 10 kids?

And if they planned to own a little 5 or 6 bedroom house (in the south) in the suburbs and send the kids to public school in the suburbs? This is just a hypothetical question. I don't even have kids.

10 kids wow i would say at the minimum 60 grand ON YOUR OWN. but there is always human serices...that system is so crooked though its not even funny. i was once walking down the street and i heard this guy talking to this other guy about how he had the money for the ''stuff" since it was the first of the month and his welfare check came in. makes me sick that my tax dollars are going to buy some guy drugs instead of food for kids who really need it.

or on there own sorry i ranted about the welfare thing.

It really depends. Which suburbs? Cost of living is a lot lower in say, Louisiana than it is in southern California. What kind of lifestyle do you want to maintain? Are you one of those people who needs a trip to Cancun every spring? Will they need only designer clothes? Do you need to eat out all the time and do LOTS of expensive extracurriculars?

I only ask because kids don't have to be expensive, it depends on how one wants to live. And once you have two or three, the expenses curve decreases sharply. We have seven children, and dh makes around $70,000. We have no debt, except a mortgage. We travel a lot, but not by plane, by van to family friendly places in the US. They have nice clothes, some from second hand shops, some from the mall, a lot of hand me downs from brother or sister. But what I learned some time ago was that more clothes isn't better. Sturdy well made clothes go a lot further. I make all our meals from scratch, due to allergies, not expenses, but it saves us a LOT of money and is healthier anyway. We don't eat out a lot for the same reasons, but when we do it's not fast food.

And no, we don't get welfare. Out of all the large families I know, not one of them is on welfare...it's against our personal belief that God will provide. I only know people with one to three kids on welfare.
