  1. HI. That all depends on your choice of clients. Generally small animal Veterinarians make more than large animal Veterinarians in a general hospital or clinic.  But if you are a Specialists expect to make more (ex. Equine Sports Medicine).

What will also come  into play is the area of the country you are working in, the veterinary setting you choose and the college where you were educated.

If you choose to work for another veterinarian, you will make a great deal of money.  If you run your own clinic, expenses are high and your income will not generate an extremely large figure unless you are running a good sized clinic with a large clientelle.

You will go to school for 3 years as a graduate and 4 years in Pre-Veterinary medicine as an undergraduate.  Veterinary school is VERY hard to get into. It is harder than medical, law and business school as far as entrance goes. Generally only the top 10-20% of students in Pre-Veterinary will make it into graduate school for Veterinary Medicine.  Pre-Veterinary Medicine is also hard to get into. Make sure you do very good on your ACT science and math portions if you haven't yet got into college because graduate school in Veterinary medicine also evaluate these scores. Pick up an internship with a Veterinary hospital or clinic and stick with it before graduate school. This shows dedication and commitment.

A Veterinarian can hope to expect between $30,000 and $150,000 and over annually, depending on the criteria listed above.

    Hope that helps!

  2. A LOT, no matter what part of the country you are in. Get ready for 8 years of collage.
