Question:

How much would the construction of a Cuba-Florida bridge cost?

From Key West to Havana is approximately 90 miles. Thanks to its length, the bridge needs a rest stop built on a pylon every 15 miles, with a bigger full-service travel center on the mid-way (45-mile) point.

To ensure traffic never chokes in the case of a lane-blocking accident, the bridge is six lanes with emergency shoulder lanes on each side.

Now, how many years would the bridge's construction take (if started from both ends) and how much would it all cost?

  1. Rest stops?
Such bridges/tunnels generally aren't road bridges, they're rail only.
