Question:

How much would you give up to go from #6 pick to #1 pick in a 12-team fantasy football draft?

I think I can get the first pick by giving up the #6 pick in round 1, moving down four slots in round 2 and giving up my round 6 pick. I think this is a lot to give up, but am looking for some other opinions.

  1. I would keep #6 you have a chance at Barber,Westbrook or Addai at #6 and stiil have a great #2 spot.

  2. I would GLADLY give you my #1 for all that and kill you in the season. I could pick starters at all three slots you give.

  3. I generally would not do this at all. There are good options available throughout the first round. While it would be nice to pickup whoever you're targeting at #1, moving out of the 6th round altogether means you'd be filling a spot  from the FA list after the draft where you would normally be picking a starter. In essence you're pushing all the roster spots you pick after round 5 down by one round.

  4. swap your round 1 and 3 picks for the number one. that way the guy can have 2 picks in round 3.. that should sweeten the pot a little so the guy can go for the trade. Or just join another league and hope you get the first or second pick.

  5. I don't think that is giving up much at all.  I'm not sure I'd do it tho.  #6 could nab you someone like S.Jax or Moss or Brady.  I like these guys almost as much as LT and more than AP.

  6. Don't bite.

  7. So you would basically be swapping 1st and 2nd round picks and then giving your 6th round in addition to that.

I would say absolutely.  The top RBs (LT and Adrian Peterson) have a ceiling that is so high that they could outscore many teams 1st and 2nd round picks combined. Are you are really losing is a 6th round pick because the 1st two rounds are equal swaps.

    I'd go for it.

  8. Do not make this trade. You are giving up too much to get LT. He is a great player, but y ou are losing points from other areas to get him.

  9. i dont think its worth it cause u could get a great player deep in the draft.

  10. I also think thats a bit much...stay at six, I like the middle, just in case there are runs on a certin position your not left with kyle boler or some s*****k

  11. keep the picks you have< you will be able to get a good back with 6th pick and a decent QB like Eli Manning or someone like that. i would not give up my second round pick just to get L.T. or whoever you are going for< because the second best player on your team will end up being the 24 best player on your list

    keep your pick

  12. Don't panic here.  Chances are you will end up fine with the pics you have.  Don't let someone sucker you into this trade.  This guy must be l*****g his chops hoping you do it.  He will end up better off than you without a doubt.  I suggest doing some mock drafting at CBS sportsline if you are in a traditional type seasonal league.  That way you can practice.  If you are not in a traditional type league where there are keepers, I would do good research and think about who might be there when you make your pics.  The best advice I have is don't reach for players.  If you think a guy might be worth a 4th round pick don't pick him in round 2, take the best available player.

  13. try it

  14. if that is what you are looking for, it depends on who you would be looking for afterwards.

and if you pay for pickups, then you should check to the price of that.

if pick ups are free than go for it

  15. I would absolutely do it.  There is a huge point difference between what LT will get you and what the #6 RB in the draft will get you.  There wont be that much of a difference moving down 4 slots in round 2 or giving up your round 6 pick.  LT scored 306 fantasy points last year and the #6 RB last year was Jamal Lewis who scored 221.  Thats an 85 point swing.  Thats like 6 points a game (which is the equivelent of a TD a game).  Last year was a slower year for LT as well, he scored 415 the year before and is predicted in most fantasy mags to score around 350 this year.  I would do that trade in a second.

  16. It looks like a good deal.

  17. I would give up my picks its to early in the draft.......

  18. There are pros and cons to the #1 and every draft spot in a draft.  In a 12 team league, you pick the best, but you have to wait for 24 other picks before it is your turn to pick.

I have been playing FFB for years and always finish in the top 3 in a 14 team PPR/IDP league.  I can draft well in any position and I tend to not like the first 5 spots to draft.  Personally, I think the # 6 spot is perfect.  What you want are not just the best, but also factor in consistency, injury risk, and potential.

Last year I drafted in the # 10 spot of a 14 team league and took it all.  The # 1 draft spot did not make it.  The person who played me in the championship was in the # 6 draft spot.

I say don't trade up, but get skilled.  Here is a link to practice in a mock draft.  It is fun and you will have a better idea of how you will look after the draft is complete.  Then you can learn what you will do different in the # 6 spot.  This will help you a lot.

Good luck bro and have a fun season!

Thumbs up to those who agree.

  19. If you can get it for what you said then you have to do it.  I wouldn't give up pick rounds 1-4 though.

  20. Thats giving up too much. Check out the link below it's very helpful in trading draft picks.

  21. Just wait until the draft is over and if you really want to get LT then make a trade offer for him. If trade up just to get him you will be seriously hurting your team in the later rounds of the draft. I see why you want LT being from SD, but that is a huge mistake that fantasy owners make, picking with their heart.

When the draft gets to you at pick #6, take the best available player and then try to make a deal after the draft. By doing so, you will still get all of your other picks and one of them may turn out to be a steal.

I also wouldn't do the deal because LT is on the downside of his career, and at pick #6 you may be able to land J.Addai. Addai is young stud in the league and has the potential to out-perform LT

    Good Luck

  22. i would not give up that much because at #6 you can get so many people that are amazing

  23. number six is like changing from

    ryan grant to ladainian tomlinson

its obvious whos better so it would take a good person with an average person

like tom brady and chad johnson would be good enough to get #1 pick

  24. Don’t trade up.  The deal is pretty fair, but you don’t want to drop out of the 6th round.  You could get some great value there.  While LaDainian Tomlinson is the #1 choice and he should have a great season, he is coming off of an injury and he has had a heavy workload for his entire career.  Even Tomlinson has nothing guaranteed is the point.  At 6th, you could have some great value fall to you.  There are 5 “consensus” players that make the top 5 players on most people’s boards.  If you are at 6, you could get one of those.  For me, there are actually 6 players I consider in the top group instead of 5.  Basically, you are going to get a great football player at 6th.  I the 6th round there should still be some great players that will boost your team based on average draft position.

  25. I wouldn't do it. With the 6th pick, you could get guys like Addai or Steven Jackson, who, in their own right are still quality running backs. Yeah, they probably won't put up the numbers LT or possibly AP are gonna put up, but look at it this way. If you go RB / RB in the first two rounds, you'll get better overall backs then he will.

Plus, going from experience, I hate drafting #1 overall (or dead last in a draft). If you go #1, you get the best player available, sure, but you have to wait a long time between picks. With that, it causes you to reach when you shouldn't during your next picks, and can really s***w up a draft.

  26. YES  thats defintely enough.  it is sure to work because i had a similar situation last year with that in my league.  i traded my 5th overal pick and 2 nd round pick to pick first.  i also picked up adrian peterson because no one drafted him thinking he was injury prone (which he kinda is, but he's still a great player).  those two carried my team to the championship.  in fact i counted that i had enough numbers to win with my lineup without peterson at all.  anyways wnough of my blabbering

GOOD LUCK with your league i hope the best for yeah and i hope it works out and ya win your league

  27. If this is the first year then do it, but if this is a keeper draft and not the first year then i would say don't do it
