Question:

How much would you pay a night nanny?

I have almost-15-month old twins who do not yet sleep thru the night. My partner and I have decided to get a night nanny to help for a short time to reduce the possibility of complete insanity...

This person would mostly be sleeping but would be responsible for one of the twins overnight when he does wake - he usually takes a bit of a bottle or just can be rocked back to sleep once or twice. I'm thinking 10 p.m. - 6 a.m.

One of us parents can then sleep and the other work with the other twin who is continuing to have very hard nights.

I have no idea what to offer in terms of pay, though. Any thoughts? If we have a mama's helper during the day, we pay $8.50-9/hr.

Thanks!

  1. I am a nanny and when my employers first had their twins they paid something in the range of $100 a night.  If I stay overnight now I get paid $100 and the kids sleep the whole time.

  2. that sounds right 8.50an hour GOSH I EANT A NANNY 2 :)

    oops i mean WANT :)

  3. I'd go at least $12

  4. Honestly i wouldn't pay anything because i wouldn't trust someone i don't even know coming into my house and watching my children. i see alot on tv about nannies that abuse the children verbally and sexually. so my answer is, its not worth it. find a close relative or family friend. someone you really really trust. then discuss the payment plan with them. about $9/per hour. or $25 a night
