  1. I am an elementary teacher and I have been a tutor in 2 very different areas. In a rural farm town, I was paid $15/hour. In the Seattle area, I am paid $35/hour.

A lot of what you pay a tutor should be based on the background of the tutor. If it is just another kid tutoring your child, think double minimum wage for your area. If it is a teacher, then you need to honor their time and professionalism, and pay what is called "per diem" rate. This is the hourly rate of a teacher during the normal school day -- it is typically $25 - $40 depending on the school district.

You are a good parent for getting a tutor! It's well worth it!

  2. It really depends on where you live and the credentials of the tutor.  In California, special ed, science and math tutors can make between $50 - $75 per hour.

It also depends on other things:  Is the tutor driving to you or are you driving to the tutor?  If the tutor drives to you, you should expect to pay more.  You can also expect to pay more if the tutor is providing materials for your child.

Tutoring is a business for most people or at least a source of second income for teachers.  If you are looking for a tutor for your child call some of the local private schools and see if they have tutoring lists available.

  3. if you go to a learning center they will charge you 44 dollars an hour and that is wrong. if it is to help you child it should be around 10 or 15 dollars

  4. $10

  5. Well, there are a lot of factors I'd take into account. How good is the person. How badly do you need the help.

  6. at least 25.00$
