How much would you pay for a good walk?

I am about to write up an advertisement for dog walking but I'm not sure what to charge. These are going to be very long walks (I'll be writing "guaranteed to tire out your dog" on the ad). How much would you pay per walk?

  1. When i use to walk dogs i charged-

    5$ a dog for admission.

If they wanted a normal walk then i wouldn't add anymore money.

    this was my schedule.

Mondays and Fridays i had 2 dogs each walk so thats-20$

    On Tuesdays and Wednesday's i had 1 dog a walk so thats-10$

    No one on Thursday.

Then on the weekends they'd ask me for longer walks witch was 2 dogs and 5$ more each dog so that was-40$

so by the end of the week i made a total of 70$ and that is not bad for only 2 clients.

Hope you kinda got that. Its sorta confusing lol.

  2. Really! You will actually guarantee to tire out my bouncy, full of beans and never seems to tire 19 month old Dobermann JJ???

Now that I would pay for!!!!!!! However, as we live in England shipping to and from England for his walks could be a problem......

  3. i don't know charge them $5 per mile. or something.

  4. $10= 30 minutes

    $20= 1 hour

and so on. ($10 per half hour)

  5. charge like $4-$5 per kilometer (or if your american per mile)

  6. Not sure

  7. You're hired.  My dogs are working sled dogs that run 60 miles with only a 10 minute break.  I challenge you to tire out any one of them.  If you succeed I'll pay you well.  You should think twice about that guarantee.

  8. I'd be careful about putting "guaranteed to tire out your dog"

You could be done for false advertising.

  9. Heh...  I'd give you 50 if you could wear my two monster mutts out!  I don't even try to "walk" them anymore.  I go on my bike and they RUN.  But that aside, I would think for normal dogs, $5 bucks for a half hour or $10 an hour would be reasonable. Or you might think about charging more, but offering "package" discounts - $15 an hour, but if they buy 3 1-hour days per week, you'll only charge $35 for the week.  Good luck!

Edit: I have to agree with winterrules up above.  You really might want to re-think that guarantee.

  10. I don't know but when you find out let me know I want to find someone to tire my dogs out!

  11. $10 not to expensive and fair price, imagine walking 10 dogs a day!! $100 right there, if you raised the price like 15 or 20 dollar you'll have a decline in customers so keep it cheap and it will make up for the price bringing you more customers.

  12. Me personally I wouldn't allow anyone to walk my dogs but if I had to choose anywhere from $20-$38 if you go a mile and beyond $38-$50 (there goes have my paycheck if that's the case)

  13. well it depends on the size of the dog. bigger dog, longer walk i'm sure. plus their energy and activity level, and age. those all factor into what would actually make a dog dog tired. (pardon the pun haha) let's see, i would probably charge a flat rate of maybe 5-7 dollars per walk, and maybe like a dollar a mile after or something.

  14. $15 large dogs

    $10 medium dogs

    $5 small dogs/puppies

  15. If you're licensed, insured and bonded, $15 for half hour, $20 for 45 minutes, $25 for an hour.  If you're a teenager or someone else doing this 'under the table' so-to-speak, $5 for half hour, $8 for 45 minutes, $10 for an hour.  BTW, think twice about the guarantee to tire out the dog, my not even 10 pound Min Pin can go for 3 hours and still be bouncing when we get home.  There are a lot of small dog breeds with way more energy than the big dogs, especially breeds like the Min Pin and some of the terriers.

  16. A lot depends on the demographics. Bench mark your competition to get an understanding of what the market will pay.
