  1. Theres two website that can tell you the retail value. KBB and NADA guide. I usually use KBB but both are good. In there you put the mileage, make and model of the car along with the year and all of the option that you have, and they will tell you how much its worth. Also, if theres a Carmax around your area, take it to them, they will appraise it for free and they will even buy it from you if you think its a good price what they are offering you. Good Luck

  2. You would be asking too much.  A great site for checking what you should buy/sell at is kelley blue book (a more or less standard car-pricing website).  For your car--I assumed it was an lx--the price is gonna be around $4800 for excellent condition.

Personally, I would put it up at $5000 since price will probably be negotiated anyway.

Well, hope this helps.  By the way, here's how to get to the Kelley Blue Book used car values home page:

  3. You will NEVER get $6,500. Asking $4,600 would be on the high end. Lot's of eight year old focus's out there well under four grand.

  4. Sounds maybe a little above average price due to the mileage. Check around your area; dealers, classifieds, etc. to set the price.

  5. I think you should get at least $6,500 for it. Sounds like a good car.

  6. I think thats a good price

  7. One of the keys to pricing a car is to effectively rate the car as the price will vary widely based on condition and mileage.  Mileage is pretty obvious and you give that.  As a buyer or a SELLER you should base condition on a Carfax report - you can provide the report to anybody looking at the car.

There are a bunch of places to check car prices on the Internet. NADA guides is one - but since they are owned by the car dealers association I never recommend them. KBB is another. Driverside.com is a new site and they have a couple of extras - great data showing price based on mileage; DriverSide Estimate where they search actual listings to find what cars are actually selling for in local markets; and estimates for trade in pricing.  Your price looks reasonable - maybe even a bit low considering folks will try and negotiate you down.
