How much would you pay to watch a game at the new Yankee Stadium?

My family owns a fifth of a box behind the dugout at the current Yankee Stadium, so we go to a decent amount of games per year. It isn't cheap, but for $250/seat/game, we think it's worth it. The view is amazing, and we often get personal interaction with the players before the games being so close to the dugout.

But we just got word about how much our same seats will cost for next year. And the price, for ONE individual seat, eight rows behind the dugout at Yankee Stadium for one game of baseball is... get this... $850. EIGHT-HUNDRED-AND-FIFTY DOLLARS PER SEAT, PER GAME! Since we started buying into the plan in 2002, the price for an individual seat in that same box has gone up $788. In one year, it's increased $650. Apparently, waitress service remains and all-you-can-eat food is free and there are rumors of free parking for all ticket holders, but...

Do you think this outrageous price is worth it? Would you pay so much for a seat at Yankee Stadium?

  1. Big Market Teams should expect Big Market Prices.  The 3 Big market teams are the Yankees, Red Sox, and Cubs.  I expect the other two will follow in line with what you are experiencing.

You got a 250 million dollar payroll, it ain't free the money got to come from somewhere.  Just be glad CBS no longer owns your team.

Would I pay that much money?  Nope, I am a White Sox fan and not a Yankees fan.  But if my Sox spend a quarter Billion on salaries (With Kenny Williams as our GM, that means winning the World Series every year), then I would for White Sox games.

  2. I am a huge Yankees fan but I don't see spending that much for a seat.  However, if you can afford the seats than that is the price needed to help pay back the Steinbrenner's for flipping for most of the bill of the new stadium.

I think if I was making a half a million dollars a year, then I would gladly pay $850 per seat to see my favorite team play.  But a waitress and all you can eat food isn't worth an extra 600 to me.

To Jim...the problem is that even at $35 you'd have to watch the Pirates play...that's a drawback there...that's like paying $7.50 and watching a triple A team...if you can afford the seats, like in this case she can, then why not...I can't afford even the $250 just to watch a game...so I'd much rather buy the baseball package and enjoy most of the games.

  3. Holy motherf u c k e r!

Do you know how much a dugout ticket is at PNC Park...?

    $35 a game.
