  2. It should be around 3 to 4 ounces which is a normal skein. If you get the no dye lot yarns like Red Heart, it doesn't matter if you run short unless it takes you years to knit the mittens then they might have discontinued the color.

  3. One normal size skein should do it. Knit them at the same time, so if you run low, you can augment with something else!  :)

  4. Depending on whether or not you are felting your mittens, or knitting them with doubled yarn or single yarn determines how much yarn you need.  For simple, single yarn weight, non-felted mittens you need about 150 yards per mitten or 300 yards total.  This may or may not be more than one skein, depending on the yarn put up.

  5. If you are knitting them.
