How much you think i could get renting out my house??

I was think ing about buying a 3 bedroom house and then moving into is and renting the rest out to a family. i would only occupy one of the rooms.

how much do you think i could get??

I live i oregon.

An answer as to much you think it would be where you live would be good also.

  1. You will be hard pressed to find a family that not only is in need of only 2 bedrooms, but is willing to live with the landlord in residence.

    The amount will depend on the location.    2 bedrooms rent for about 600-700 except in Portland.


  2. I plan on doing something similar in St. Louis this fall when I buy a single family house.

    I'm 26 so I want to find probably 1 roommate about my age.

    I am thinking 400 dollars for a room and a private bath --- that includes everything but food. I think that's very very cheap for the other person but at the same time that pays for half my mortage. It's a win-win.

    For a family though, I think more has to be asked. We're talking 2 or 3 people instead of one roommate. In addition, they are going to need more space.

    Houses / apartments rent out for about 800 plus all the extra costs of utilities/cable/etc. So I think 700-800 is fair.
