Biden first entered congress in 1972 as a Senator. He will be 66 years old in november, born in 1942

McCain first entered congress in 1982 in the HOR. He was elected to the senate in 1986. He is 72 years old (or he will be in about 5 days..august 29, 1936).

Biden is Delaware's longest serving senator and is on his sixth term there.
