  1. Who cares, it's so good! I love KFC, and on your question you should probably be more specific, they have crispy, regular, they have salads, what kind of KFC are you asking about?

If you need to ask, KFC doesn't make the grade.  The fried chicken is in deep fat oil that is pressure cooked (broasted) which gives it more fat.  If you want chicken that is lower in fat, try El Pollo Loco or Koo Koo Roo.  Of course go with white meat.  At El Pollo Loco, you can ask them to remove the fatty skin.  Koo Koo Roo has a rotisserie version plus a better skinless marinated version which has the least fat.

Don't get too comfortable if you eat this meal though, because you will have to do some extra exercise to burn off all the calories. KFC is a popular restaurant that serves up tasty chicken meals, but how healthy is a fried chicken meal at KFC?

    The Meal

    Start with two pieces of Original Recipe chicken, one breast and one wing. Add a side of mashed potatoes and gravy plus another side of cole slaw. Top off the meal with a medium soda.

    The Nutrition

    The two pieces of fried chicken would add up to about 500 calories, which includes nearly 25 grams of fat and around 200 mg of cholesterol. This is almost half of the fat suggested for a whole day and it isn't healthy fat. On the plus side, chicken is a good source of protein and iron.

    The cole slaw probably has about 200 calories from it's sweet dressing and around 10 grams of fat, but it should add some vitamin A and vitamin C to your day. The mashed potatoes and gravy add another 125 to 150 calories and just a few more fat grams. The medium soda adds about 175 calories, all from sugar, with no nutritional benefit.

    Assessment

    This meal just has way too many calories, with more than 1000 calories for only one meal. It has too much fat and a lot of sugar as well. Save this meal for an occasional treat, and don't be tempted to go for seconds.

    A Healthier Version

    KFC has a three piece oven baked chicken strip meal which is served with green beans and seasoned rice. The chicken should only have about 200 calories and a lot less fat. The green beans and rice would only add another 200 calories or so. Drink water instead of the soda. This meal would only have around 400 calories, some vitamin A from the green beans and still be a good source of iron. It may not be as tasty as the typical fried chicken meal, but it won't add all the extra calories and fat, so it is definitely a better choice.

    Experts recommend that no more than 30% of your total daily intake of nutrients be fat. The easiest way to do this is to become a student of food lables. If you need to consume 2000 calories to maintain your present weight you should consmume less than 65 grams of total fat. Of that 65 grams less than 20 grams should be saturated fat.

    Fat has 9 calories per gram. For a 1000 calorie diet you should get no more than 330 calories from fat. Take that 330 calories and divide that by 9 and that works out to about 36 grams of fat. The recommended serving size for peanut butter is 2 tablespoons. This serving size contains 16 grams of fat. If I was on a 1000 calories diet that amount would take up almost half of my total daily fat intake.

    Look under the per hundred grams catagory, and if there is say 10g of fat per hundred grams, then that means that item is 10% fat....

    and there is alot in everything to tell you the truth

    if you go there and ask a person on a cashier for a brochure on whats in the KFC food, i think its called like product or natrition thingy, im not sure, but they will know what you are asking about, that should tell you all you need to know
