  1. when major climate changes occur, such as global cooling due to very large volcanic eruptions or large asteroid impacts, many if not most people will die from starvation & disease. for a "minor" example research "1816 the year without summer."

if the next major event should occur today ( a year or 2  when no food could be grown) I would expect about 500,000 to 1 million people would survive out of the current 6 billion +. depending on the extent of the event & how long it lasted.

  2. If you have to, move.  If you don't have to, don't.

  3. just keep going about your day to day buisness as usual. the climate changes constantly and we always deal with it if needed the next generation will evolve to deal better with the climate but i think that this will not be necessary.

  4. There are a number of things humans could do to deal with climate change. Most of them are not very intrusive or lifestyle changing, they are small and simple but if done by a lot of people can help with climate change.

Some ideas are listed at http://www.greenfanclub.com

Things like use CFL bulbs, service car, carpool etc. they are simple but impactful.

  5. Basically, I agree with Crash.  The human race outgrew the food supply in the late 1970's, just as was predicted for a couple of  decades.  However it occurs, that will need to change to about the numbers he states.  The use of fossil fuels has to decrease by at least 70%.  Personally, I think that and all the other needed changes, like elimination of the expotentially increasing pollution of the environment will all logically follow the correction of the population.  The big question is whether that can occur in time to avoid the extinction of life on the planet.  It's going to be close, and in our lifetime.  In view of all that, I think as a responsible citizen the best thing I can do is support the burning of the skeptic-deniers as a fuel, rather than fossil fuels or ethanol.
