How necessary is antilock braking system on an automobile?

its good for people who really dont know how to drive a car,,,it may spare them an accident. But its not all its cracked up to be. Most ABS on cars is only a partial system and not all 4 wheels.

Moreove ABS only turn on when a vehicle reaches certain speeds,,,usualy over 30  or 35 mph. Under that and it does no operate. So for city driving its reallly no even operating.

You can drive without it, but it helps reduce you're stopping distance is some conditions and improve control under hard braking.

I would not buy a car without it . It will definitely prevent accidents in urgent braking conditions on slick roads. This is a no brainer.
