  1. Natalia is at it again! Bashing every american made car she can. Hey Natalia did you read my post on how motor week tested a brand new accord, and went to turn the air on on a 90 degree day, and it didnt work? But according to you Honda are the best cars made. I know from experiece that the Grand Am is a good car. Dont listen to these people who just worship Hondas, and Toyotas.

  2. For those people who judge a car (and possibly its occupant) by the quality of the car's engineering, it is likely quite safe to say that it is about the worst - a bit less than 1. AutoOnInfo.net accords the 2000 Pontiac Grand Am a Reliability Percentrank of .08 on a scale of 1.00 to 0.00. The Pontiac Grand Am is also on AutoOnInfo.net's list of the contenders for the worst model ever made, based on its multi-year reliability since 1987, and it is on AutoOnInfo.net's list of Automobiles with a Worst Engine (with a score of -.88 on a scale of 1.00 to -1.00). In addition, the 2000 Pontiac Grand likely has been on Consumer Reports' lists of Used Cars to Avoid for every year since 2004; it certainly has been for the past 2 years.

Nonetheless, you're young and you'll live through it. Next time though, it might be wise to first consult Consumer Reports or AutoOnInfo.net, the latter providing reliability and durability data dating back to model model year 1987.

But in the meantime, you can turn it into something humorous. When problems arise, you can say something like, " I just wanted to see how awful General Motors cars really are."

  3. Any 17 year old would be happy with a car - any car. This however seems to be one for a slightly older set. A Civic, Lancer, older BMW or some VW models might be more ideal for the high school set. Don't expect the greatest mileage with the Grand Am so make your buddies chip in for gas. Otherwise, you've done well.

PS: watch the cooling system and brakes, 2 trouble area on Grand Ams according to Consumer Reports. Don't "beat it" and it should get you through college.

  4. There OKAY but if something goes wrong you need to invest in a toolkit and repair manual. They are the sexiest POS you can buy.

  5. If you like it, what difference does it make?  But on a scale of 1 to 10, I would say about a 7.

  6. Well how much did you pay for it? Those cars are generally junk. If it has a V6, you're going to see tons of problems around 90-100k miles. If you got the 2.4L 4 cylinder, you should make it to 120k before the water pump goes and throws the timing, destroying the motor. V6s are just screwed, the head gaskets don't last long just like their fuel pumps. Sure they look ok, but their build quality is pathetic. Hope you didn't pay much.
