  1. Yes.

Dogs don't get "Periods" either like female humans - They go into heat.  It's called "Estrus" and from a physiological standpoint, it's the opposite of a "Period".  Google "Estrus" and you can get more information.

It will last for approx 21 days (3 weeks) and during that time, you need to keep her away from all Male dogs that haven't been neutered.  Don't even leave her out in the yard by herself - Males will do ANYTHING to get to her right now including tear a fence apart.

She'll also spot blood - You can get special products for her at the Pet Store.

Call the Vet today and make an appointment to have her spayed in 4-5 weeks, then neither of you will need to go through this again.

  2. its fine, but say she is "in heat"...dogs don't get periods......get her fixed

  3. Its very normal for her v***a to be swollen and its HEAT not PERIOD, two very different things. Keep her away from any intact males and call your vet TODAY to schedule an appointment for her to be spayed.

  4. Take her to the vet and have it checked out. As soon as her heat is done, get her spayed. I dont ever, EVER want to see anything like this happen to any dog or poor little puppies.
