  1. by not trying to get one

  2. You must be willing to submit to a search of your anal cavity (and vaginal if female) to search for drugs. They will also test your feelings towards the U.S. by making you answer a questionnaire in which you will need to list the names of all past U.S. Presidents since Teddy Roosevelt (that's the easy part). The other part of the test is your knowledge of U.S. law, in which they will ask you to choose from a list of 14 U.S. Supreme Court decisions, and you'll have to explain what the Court decided in one of these decisions, and do a short 1,500-word essay on the reasoning behind the decision and why you think it was the correct decision.

  3. It's almost impossible.  You have to PROVE to the US consular officer who interviews you that you will not overstay, that you will return to the Philippines.  This is the law.  The law requires this proof.

You get proof by submitting things like a letter from your employer stating that you are on vacation and that your job is waiting for you upon your return.  This can't be Jollybee either, it must be a GOOD job that pays good wages.  Submit 6 months worth of bank statements showing regular deposits and a substantial balance.  Submit automobile registration, school enrollment papers, mortgage papers and land deeds, apartment lease, etc...  The goal is to PROVE that you have a lot of good reasons to return home.

    About 2% of Filipinos qualify.

  4. Yak Rider is largely correct, but the approval of first time applicants is no where near as low as 2%.   However, if you're not sure if you're married or not, maybe you should wait a bit. Short of not applying at all, there's no way to guarantee that you won't be denied.
