My son loves it but upon viewing the nutrition guide, I see it lacks in nearly all vitamins yet it recommended that we eat an apple a day.

  1. apples are almost pure sugar you are right. The skin contains all most all the nutritional value so make sure you go with a company that includes that. I recommend organic or something like that over motts where it is labeled for children so has a lot more sugar in it.

  2. You are right, applesauce does not have much nutritional value.  It does provide vitamin c, but it can contain a lot of sugar.  Look for sugar free varieties if that is a concern.  Other than that, i would say it is ok for your little one to enjoy it as a snack.  There are a lot of worse things that he could be eating (candy, cookies, chips, etc).  A fresh apple would be much better though.  See if you can get him to eat one once in awhile instead of applesauce.  Try cutting it or slicing it and serving it with some peanut butter or caramel sauce. You can also chop one up, sprinkle it with some Cinnamon, and pop it in the microwave to make a warm, apple pie-like treat

    Good luck!
