How obvious is a tongue piercing? i.e. will people notice that I've had it done? can I hide the fact that I've had the piercing? yup, you guessed it, the parents don't approve :P

Thanks :)

  1. depends on the size... you're trying to hide it from your parents? trust me it won't work :] good luck n e wayzz

  2. If you did get it pierced it would be swollen and sore after.  People will notice at this time because you will be speaking differently, learning how to move your tongue around with something new in your mouth and also learning how to eat again (think spaghetti, it gets wrapped around sometimes).

After it heals you can put in a barbell with clear beads which are less noticeable.  I have had mine for 3 years and nobody ever notices unless I stick out my tongue.

I don't know how you would get it done without your parents permission unless you are of age.  What you could do, is research it on the internet... the pros and the cons... and present it to your parents in a professional way and tell them you really want it.

    Good luck!

  3. When you first get it, some people will notice 'cause your tongue will swell and you will talk wayy different. I say some because when I pierced it, a lot of people didn't know even though I was talking different. Stupid I guess?

When it heals enough to change it, put a clear one on and it'll become even harder to notice.

Mind you, you can't take it off for more than an hour or it will close. It'll take like a whole year of you wearing it religiously so you can take it off when you want to.

  4. First of all it's not very good for you the metal is not very pure.Yes they will notice. Most people I know talk with this weird lisp and they constantly l**k their tongue out a lot so yeah you will be yelled at so get ready to rummmblllle. Better yet just don't do it.

  5. I've had mine for 10 years. Some people notice right off the bat (mainly guys, I've noticed...) whereas other will know me for a couple of years and never notice it. But if you want to keep it from your parents right after getting it pierced- good luck with that. You'll only be able to eat certain foods and the swelling will make you talk slightly funny for about a week. It's probably best to just wait until you're 18 (it's the only legal way anyway).

  6. Trust me, they will know you've had it done.

You can't eat solid foods for a week and your tongue will swell slightly so you can't talk properly either.
