How od i import videos using a digital cmera using a usb cord?

Is it s still picture camera or videocamera?

If still pictures, you just connect the cam and the comp and you should be able to see the cam as another drive. Then copy the files. You might need a driver for your particular camera, which you should receive with your camera on CD or you can downloaded it from your cam manufacturer web site.

If that is miniDV videocamera, then you cannot. You need Firewire cable and firewire port on your computer (even if the camcorder has USB port, that is for transfer of still images, not the actual movie)

If that is HDD videocamera, than you do the same as described above for still pict. camera.

By the way, if you are next time more specific about the type of camera, type of your computer/OS and so on, you will get better and more specific answer...

Get a card reader, they are cheap and very handy to use. You would put the card from your camera in the reader and open the reader as a drive in MyComputer, then also open MyDocuments/MyVideos and drag and drop your videos into the file.

Or

Install the software, put the camera in playback mode, hook your camera up via the USB cord that came with your camera and turn it on if it doesn't come on automatically, go to MyComputer and open your camera's drive that way, or your camera’s software program should come up automatically.

you plug one end of the usb into the camera and the other end to the usb port on  the computer. then the computer should recognize the camera and ask you what you want to do. then you tell it you want to put the pics/videos on your computer and it will take you through the process. it's pretty much the exact same as pictures.
