How often and how much should i water my new sod?

  1. I've always kept new sod 'soaking wet' for the first week or so. Water as much as possible, being especially careful to keep edges from drying-out.

    Once the roots have begun to penetrate the soil below (when you can no longer easily lift the sod up) you can begin the normal watering schedule of an inch or so of water per week.  


  2. I am no expert, but they say deep watering a few times a week is better than superficial watering every day helps the roots take hold better.
