How often are protests successful in the Olympics ?

just curious and NO i don't watch Gymnastics, seems like they are always rejected pretty fast

  2. Depends on how severe the penalty that wasnt tallied or whatever the protest is for, like Dix today, the guy stepped on the inside line...3...times? and he was already dressed casual when he found out he won bronze due to the Protest

  3. It is successful when they have a case, ie it's not because you were ignorant of the rules.

    The US track team successfully gained another medal in the 200m spring when they protested that the then 2nd place athlete from Netherland Antilles had stepped over the lane during the turn.  It sucks because Antilles don't really get any medals, but the American guy from 5th shot up to 3rd and got the bronze.  Ironically there was also an American who got DQ'd for the same thing.  So protests are successful when you have ground.
